I do seem to recall that Ganymede's strength is the reason a certain portion of this ship sustained a particular amount of damage, so I imagine they can also be ready to fight if necessary.

That aside, overestimation of our current Senior Crew's capabilities is unwise. I wouldn't presume all of them are the type to keep themselves combat ready at any given moment until proven otherwise.
