[i'm throwing us in i'm sending us STRAIGHT to hell.
by which i mean no sooner have they ended up in the void than... this happens, up to 1:53:15.
this-- isn't something he wanted her to ever see. it's not something he ever wanted to go through again, either, leaving him a little frozen by the time it's over.]
She hears her voice, so Yuri turns and witnesses everything and it's quite... a doozy. Yuri remembers the early part even when seeing it from another person's perspective.
So that is how she dies. That's what happens after she dies. This is how Gregor feels when she dies.
Once the void spits them back out, Yuri stays there with a faraway gaze before covering her face with her hands. ]
[he's shaken by it, she can tell even with her face covered; the tremor in his voice says it for him, the way his hand is unsteady where he takes hold of one of her arms. like he's making sure she's still solid and real, right in front of him, no longer the dangling head he'd seen again moments ago.]
Yuri, I-- I'm sorry.
[for making her see this. for letting her die. he was there, he was right there.]
[it's been on his mind ever since they arrived, and he saw her here-- she's not supposed to be alive. all of her time here is borrowed, for better or worse, and he can't...
after a second, he wraps his human arm around her, slightly uncertain at first. like he's not sure if she's okay with this.]
[ If Yuri isn't okay with it, she doesn't show. In fact, she presses her face into Gregor's shoulder and cries a little, her hand grasping his back and holding onto whatever clothes he has on right now.
She cries for a while and when she's done, Yuri is quiet, but still resting her head on his shoulder. ]
if she's accepting it like that, then-- yeah, he's not breaking it off, letting her hold on to him as long as she wants. he doesn't care if she's crying right onto his shirt, he's had worse on his clothes, and the thought doesn't even actively cross his mind; gregor just lets her cry it out, for now, quiet in turn.]
[ It sounds like it has conviction behind that voice. ]
I've been training a lot more lately. There's a combat room, the simulation room... There are people who are willing to help me get better. I appreciate them all. I really do.

... You never wanted to reveal it, Gregor. It's... a bit shocking, but I just... I...
[ Her mortality feels more up in her face than anytime else. ]

[a little shake of his head. yes, she'd volunteered, but they let her. he'd gone along instead of insisting on going alone.]

[that she has people helping her, who seem to have come to care for her--
she deserves to have that. she deserved to before she died.]
You'll have enough time for it, Yuri.

I will.
