Guess that makes us both spoiled city dwellers when it comes to temperature. New Sieg's not dramatic about temperature -- it does get cold but not like this.
Haha... The weather was definitely something I never had to worry about when I was back there. But I was also underground for a while, so artificial light was all I had.
It was like a research facility. It wasn't a prison, since I went there voluntarily. There was some sort of prestige to work in Lobotomy Corporation at the time...
Yes, because the Corporation went under and everyone associated with it carried the stigma of a fallen sector of The City. People become outcasts when they're branded with such a label.
[ Yuri's sole eye looks tired all of a sudden as she takes another bite out of the spicy potato cake. It's so spicy... but she's enduring it. ]
Yes, that is something that happens in The City... unfortunately. It was hard to find any Office that would accept me and my Fixer grade was low. No jobs mean I don't have as many chances to increase the grade, but no one wants to hire someone from a fallen sector.
[ he also looks tired. ] Oh, the vicious cycle thing. We have that too, but not exactly on that level. Something like where you’re from wouldn’t strike you from consideration completely — or it shouldn’t, and there’s stuff in place to call people out if it does. But, if there’s lots of people competing for jobs too, that makes things worse.
You mentioned fixers a couple of weeks ago. Are the grades like an experience or ranking system?
Contract work's not always stable, but they tend to pay more where I'm from. Something to do with specialised knowledge and being able to charge more.
[ her bear ears.... aaaa. he stares at them for a moment. flicky flicky. ]
... What sort of thing do you want to do? Or do you just want the chance to figure out what you want to do? I've seen you can fight, but violence is frowned on legally in a lot of places.
I suppose my work was... specialized, in a way. As to what I want to do, I... I don't know. I'll take anything, really. Even now, despite everything, it feels wrong for me to be picky about choices like those.
[ ok, he's giving in. he's giving the bear ears a pet. i also keep forgetting to describe different features for shu, i will do that before this thread ends. ]

[ That's not helpful. ]
The weather is mostly fine. Not too hot, not too cold... I had to deal with something that was unpleasantly cold once, but that's about it, really...

Underground?

Yes, one of the places I worked at was underground. We weren't allowed to leave.

...
That sounds more like a prison than anything else.

-- Wait, that's something that happens in your city?
You can get council bankrupcy back home, but they don't fall and you don't get outcasted just for living there.

[ Her little bear ears twitch a little as she continues to munch on the cake. ]
But I'm still looking for a place with a good opportunity. I will be fine on that front as long as I don't have to return to The City.

Mine's pretty specialised, I guess. But that's the good part -- figure out where to go, and then you've got the time to figure out what to do.

You're not eating? They're tasty.

No guarantee what'll happen either way. We just have to take it as it all comes.
[ ah. ] Oh, the snacks. [ ... ] I don't really like eating things I haven't made myself.

Nothing too fancy. I'm a pretty simple cook.
