Well... yes. It did when it was active, but it was also dangerous sometimes. The last job, the one after the containing one, was... bad and it didn't pay well.
... But I was lucky enough to get one anyway with the stigma I carried around. I would like to work under safer conditions though... and for a moment, I thought working on the ship was a blessing.
[ We now know that it is not. ]
That announcement... made me feel frustrated. Actually, I want to show you something.
... I'd like for you to be able to work under safer conditions, too. [she says, gently. someone as sweet as she is deserves something secure. but - she pauses, at that.]
The announcement was... nothing. It was just a lot of words to tell us nothing is going to be done. [but.] Mm, of course, though. What is it?
I think so, if the journal log that Charles showed me was of any indication. I have a transcript written in my notepad back in my room, but the list of name isn't what's important.
[ But Yuri points to the upper right hand corner, with one of the columns reading "Fate". ]
The dataset changed earlier this morning, but I had done nothing to it and I can't think of anyone else who would have either. No one else would have had access to it apart from Shoma, my roommate, but I didn't tell him of this just yet.
The fact that the word "Fate" is written there means... I wonder if the senior members are repeating what's happening to us with their memories wiped. The last crew seems to have been "retired" and the senior members don't know who these people are... supposedly.
... Fate. [she doesn't like the sound of that.] Some of them do seem to have missing memories, but I couldn't tell the extent of it, other than the fact that they couldn't remember the previous crew they were shadowing.
Keep an eye on that column. Perhaps it will update over time. [...] Will you show me if it does? I worry about the senior crew.
I just... don't like the idea of the list existing. If this was used before, it means whoever created this list was aware that these crew members were going to meet their end somehow. It feels very similar to what we're going through right now. Which is why I can't fully trust that announcement. If the senior members aren't in control, then who else would be in charge of this list, other than the highest position of Nuts and Bolts?
... You're right. Someone has kept close notes on the crews they have gathered. [...] I hadn't paid close attention to the announcement because to me, it sounded like false promises. I think this further confirms that.
We are on our own, here. But... [hm.] Do you think this has happened before? A large crew, picked off one by one, until the last remaining ones had their memories wiped and a promotion offered to them?
Yesterday was the first time that I initiated a conversation with any of them privately, but I see them around and hear things about them from the other junior crew members. I'm trying to talk to them more often now.

... You really do have a very interesting job. [she says, lifting her eyebrow. she glances at the music sheets.] Does it at least pay well?

[ Yuri gets out a little data pad, which shows a roster. ]
Have you seen this?
no subject
No, I haven't seen this. [huh.] But I do recognize some of the names, aside from the senior crew. Have you seen the... datapad from the Cargo Bay?
[she's not super great with technology, but.]

That's what I think as well. I think the senior members can be just as affected as we are, so they're not too different from us.

[ That's a nice thought, actually. ]
I think I could comfortably put my trust in a person like that as a higher up.

[she does, anyway.]

[ Throne's seal of approval? Yuri is amazed. ]
