But, Blade hasn't exactly forgotten when she made that commentary full of resolve beforehand. Desperation or not, this response seems akin to it in some way; even if the urges that compel them are alien, the feelings they evoke are their own. ]
[ Blade's little smile isn't anything but an echo of humorless. ]
How would any of us would be able to confirm much of anything at this time? Though, if you believe we would be able to do so in the first please, I wouldn't protest being enlightened.
[ She's still getting used to people wanting her opinions. ]
... But this company. It's clear that the senior members are in the dark as much as we are about the murders. In fact, they could be manipulated as well--I have evidence of that. You were right, in that this could have been a giant experiment for using nanites and the effects it has on controlling people. The culprits were clearly influenced in some way, even if they were aware that the decision was theirs, in a sense... similar to lucid dreaming. The postal service is a front, but we have no choice but to play along.
Their reactions certainly cleared them of any involvement. Even if I wouldn't be surprised the company might attempt to arrange for our Senior Crew to be scapegoats of some sort.
Such is the burden of leadership.
[ Naturally, these are just suspicions, but most dirty companies function similarly. The other problem may be the contracts, which they can't prove they did not sign, but that is a problem for whoever will be left in the future. ]
A pity we still have to play along at all. The ship naturally makes it hard to resist alongside those alterations...unsurprising, in the grand scheme of things. Of course they would endeavor to make sure security is consistently compromised.
I was taken from a time right before the monster attacked me. It was confirmed that it was the moment when I died. That's all. Just unlucky. Nothing more, nothing less.
I've been mostly [ pestering ] speaking to Adrastea. They, as expected, merely informed me of their past background in intelligence, as well the reason they also accepted this job.
It is then I learned they appear to be less of a straight-forward adherence to rules, but more of a pragmatic individual who takes their role seriously. They are also combat ready at any time.
[ Reliable, from Blade's perspective, though Blade doesn't utter such words just because. ]
What about yourself? Anything else particularly worth knowing about the Senior Members you can tell me?
[ He figures he should ask, because why the hell not.
Though at the question, he chuckles. ]
I do seem to recall that Ganymede's strength is the reason a certain portion of this ship sustained a particular amount of damage, so I imagine they can also be ready to fight if necessary.
That aside, overestimation of our current Senior Crew's capabilities is unwise. I wouldn't presume all of them are the type to keep themselves combat ready at any given moment until proven otherwise.
In the Medbay. It looks like similar things end up wounding up random locations of the ship. I was told that someone found something like this in the Cargo Bay as well. There was a strange phenomenon with two faintly glowing yellow balls of light, which behaved like the supposed bees mentioned in the video log, but in a much milder case.
Do you believe these things left behind have been purposeful? Or simply happenstance?
[ Blade is still staring at what is in front of him in thought. But, now maybe he decides to put in notes on his device. This seems...important, ostensibly. ]
I should also mention... there were voices heard in the medbay where the cots were, just like how it was described in the video log. They sounded like sleepy patients.

[ Is that her hunger talking, or just Yuri herself? Does it matter? She seems very convicted with her answer. ]
But I will feel frustrated if I don't even try.

Hm...

...What are your thoughts on this company, Yuri?

Why do you ask? Did you want to confirm your theories from before with me?

[ She feels so dead right now. ]
I hoped it would have been different here, but all this is really... just like my old work, but with nicer and supportive people.
... And that's why it hurts more, I guess.

[ Kindness...yes, Blade finds it strange. But he wonders how long will that kindness last when they realize to survive will be simply luck? ]
It may have been a far better fate for you to have never met those you did here. If you had, you would still have your freedom.
[ Assuming her previous job also just let people walk away. They could always be shitty in how they took care of the 'after' as well, of course. ]

[ She says that with absolute certainty, and it's not with any sentiment attached. ]
I will die if I return. I had that confirmed with someone.

Yuri why does your life fucking suck?Anyway, that is a surprising factoid being tossed his way. ]
...Why, exactly?

I imagine that you would understand why I'm not satisfied with the randomness of who gets to die and kill here, if at all.
no subject
Yes, that is normal for most humans and beings, of course. Doubly so for those who know they are close to the edge and missed it by a hair. ]
...I would.
In the end, perhaps only more information can make us feel less like sitting ducks.

Have you found out anything about the senior members, Blade?

[ Well, anyway. Yuri gets out the data pad and shows Blade a video log. ]
I think watching it will be easier to understand.

It is.
Where did you find this?
