[ Yuri is in the rec room, looking over the cards on the table while quietly munching on a handwich. She seems to have two more wrapped handwiches at her side as she starts stacking the chips up into a single tower. Why? Just because, probably. ]
[ They'll actually go pretty high until the random quake happens and everything topples. Yuri also topples from the chair that she's sitting on. Why are these shakes so violent. help. ]
... Ah. I'm sorry, I didn't see you there. Anise, right?
[ Yuri thinks about this for a moment... hm. Oh, she'll also bring up a chair for Anise so that she can sit and not stand the whole time. ]
I think the easiest way to describe them would be... a monster. They're called Abnormalities. The institute had to learn about them, like what makes them tick, what do they like, what kind of people they prefer... are they dangerous when passive? Things like that. None of them were human, though some acted like one.
Humans that turn into monsters are differently coined as "Distortions". It happens when someone is under extreme stress. There are other variables alongside it that make this work, but I unfortunately don't know them...
But an Abnormality is born from a shape that's similar to an egg. They also never truly die, since they just turn back into their egg forms after taking supposedly lethal damage.

[ Now she'll stand back up. It's fine... ]

...... It sounds like the ship's having problems again, huh...

... Yes, it seems so. The shakes seem to be especially violent when I'm focused on doing something else. How about you? Are you okay?

[ ... ]
But these aren't actually earthquakes, so maybe we should be a little worried...

[ Then what was the leisure act of stacking poker chips on the table? That's... a secret. ]
no subject
[ it will be some measure of bad, though. ]
Have you ever traveled on a spaceship before all of this? I was kinda surprised that a lot of people have...
no subject
[ Yuri also looks surprised. ]
I haven't, but I've been in a similar environment before.

[ Hm. ]
I feel like it carries a more primitive feel where I'm from.

[ She nods. ]
But it was mostly underground, instead of it being on a ship. ]

[ she'll come and sit down, leaning her forearms on the table. ]
Rodya mentioned "Abnormalities" back during that trial... and about how humans can turn into them, too?

It sounds like they're totally different from any of the monsters I've seen before...
So what do you do there, Yuri?
no subject
[ ... ]
Monsters are common from where you are? By any chance... do they neatly drop things after they die?
[ her eyes have been opened to jrpg drops ]
no subject
Super common.
Um, I don't know about "neatly"... but it happens sometimes! Why do you ask?
