[ His hand catches onto the wilted tree and that tilts Yuri's head back. ]

[ he turns the apple over in his hands. ]

[ It's a golden apple! But it eventually disappears from Shu's hand when the tree disappears from Yuri's head. ]

Oh, that reminds me... I had two eyes on Monday.

[ She brings up the photo on her IRIS to show Shu. Two whole gray eyes!! ]

... [ he blinks, before leaning in to get a better look at the picture on her IRIS. two whole eyes! ] How'd you find having both eyes again?

The field of vision was so much wider. I was... glad that I could see more, but it also felt a little overwhelming. My depth perception had to be reworked a little as well.

You don't really think about it the other way around-- [ lost eyes don't exactly come back, after all. ]-- but... yeah. There's bound to be an adjustment period there.

Did you keep bumping into things, or missing things?

I was being careful, so I didn't bump into anything, nor did I miss anything.

... Ah. I do regret one thing, even if it has nothing to do with depth perception. I sent a message out into HER-MES on Monday... I should have been more specific.

... Oh right, the HER-MES thing. It was kinda interesting last week. [ luke was mentioned? sus. ] What did you send?

It looked as if dead people were typing in it, and I didn't want it to be fake... so I asked "Dahut" to tell me what "Luke" was doing.

[ And the answer, of course, was shibari??? ]

[ Yuri wanted to disappear every time that was mentioned and even goes into a short brain getting circuited moment when she sees it in the execution the day after. So yeah. ]

I... I didn't know that I would have gotten an answer like that.

I don't think I would expect an answer like that either. [ shibari...... ] Wait-- though. This means some of the messages last week were from them?

Either that or unusually and specifically replicated well. That's what I was trying to figure out. I can't doubt that anyone on the ship has bad taste in humor to pretend to be dead people, but I at least ruled out we weren't communicating with an alternate universe of themselves, since Dahut knew Luke. There were messages that seemed like it came from Viktor and Scien. I'm assuming Arthur and Charles have been on it too, since I see their initials.

I guess the only thing we can do is keep trying, but be kinda wary about it. I haven't actually sent a message yet, so maybe I should try.

I know that when people die, they die, and that's the end of that. No one is special in that regard. But it would be nice... if some form of them lived on, because I'm sure that if given the chance, they wouldn't have done so.

[ She's firmly in the "nanites influence" camp. ]

You think it's something sci-fi, like their memories are uploaded into the systems?

Not necessarily their memories, but perhaps a part of their consciousness is there... floating in the internet space.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but...

I've seen movies with weirder concepts.

... I'll drop them a message and see what we get back. If it keeps happening, there might be something to that. I'm not sure how much I want to believe it, but we're currently flying through space. So, things are kinda weird and diffrent anyway.

Maybe we should think of some code words, different ones for different people, before Thursday. Keep it to a small circle of people you trust, and then you can try the code word next week.
