[ i lost it at the shitpost, haki. that's it, that's the vibe.
well. shu likely doesn't make a lot of noise while he's wandering around, but he's not exactly trying to not be seen either. besides, it's hard not to wonder what yuri's doing, stacking the checkerboard pieces in the way she is.
so.
he'll just wander over and watch from a little distance away. is it all going to fall? ]
[ i'm so glad LOL i also had to check the age post to see their age difference to see if she would call shu by mister... why does he look so old (affectionate)
Yuri tries to place the second to the last piece on top of the piece tower, but it wobbles and collapses all over the board. She tried to save it last minute by using her hands to upright the tower, but there's only so much a single pair of hands can do against a crumbling tower of checkerboard pieces. By reflex, she looks around and her gaze locks with Shu's.
[ HELP HE'S ONLY 28. this is what he gets for having grey hair. also help yuri is so cute. ]
Hi.
[ one of the pieces rolls along the floor like an embarrassing little punctuation mark to the tumbling tower of discs, and taps into his foot before toppling over to lie flat on the floor. shu reaches down and picks it up, holding it out to her. ]
[ She reaches out and takes the piece, then works on gathering the rest of them off the floor. After that comes organizing the pieces the way she saw them on the board the first time, as the way they should be. ]
[ It sure wouldn't! Yuri looks surprised. That sounds... probable enough. This sure means she's never going to bring up the fact that she was from L Corp. ]
Which office are you from? It must be from a rich Association if you were using guns...
I wouldn't call what I do part of an association or an office. The closet thing to that would be that Ruy Lopez crap, and none of us are involved with them other than second-hand association, or pissing off the people in charge.
It's not exactly dissimilar. I've done mercenary work before. [ casually. ] But that was just my own work. Fixer's the title a guy I know gave the group. Fixing problems in New Sieg, that sort of thing.
They're very expensive to use where I come from. I barely had money to support myself of basic needs. I think... rifles especially, were most expensive, but it was more about the bullets.

An extension of you that you shoot... I think I understand that sort of feeling.
[ thinks about why the city is the way it is for a very long time and yet somehow guns are not the biggest issue. ]
… I sort of inherited one. Not sure I would’ve found a way to get one without that.
[ which, honestly, would’ve been awkward. ] It’s not exactly easy to get one where I’m from too — they put laws in place to stop excess violence, not that it really works.
They have permits where I'm from. You're supposed to have a full background check and everything, to stop people with violent crime on their record getting one. But it's not impossible to slip the net and get one without any of that.
[ they tried, they failed. ]
Might be more helpful to them if we can. There's nothing saying these deliveries aren't going to be in dangerous places.

Hi.
[ one of the pieces rolls along the floor like an embarrassing little punctuation mark to the tumbling tower of discs, and taps into his foot before toppling over to lie flat on the floor. shu reaches down and picks it up, holding it out to her. ]
You dropped this.

Shu, right?

... every time someone says his name without being introduced, he's reminder of that stupid profile though. he's not sure what to think about it. ]
Yeah. And you're Yuri.

I wanted to ask you about something... your callsign. Is there a meaning behind it?

[ hmmm. ]
Oh, the email address thing? Why'd you want to know?

[ Potential another one from the City...? Though she figures that she won't have to explain what it is if he knows what it means. ]

So she looks down at her I.R.I.S device. Oh. Oh, no. She made a mistake.

Mm. New Sieg City, not The City. [ oh. ] You, Gregor and Rodya are from the same place?

... I overlooked that part. I'm so sorry.

That's not really something that needs an apology. Fixers must be a big thing where you're from if that was the immediate association you made.

I wanted to know if you were from the same place.
[ Again, she should have looked at the "homeworld" section first. What a blunder. ]
Fixers are mostly akin to mercenaries... we do all sorts of work for money.

Is that where the sniping comes from? What is it like to use a gun?

[ hmmm. ]
Not really sure how to describe it. You just kinda know from using one how it feels, and you train yourself to use it well. Like an extension of you.

[ Also similarly in that like... it never helped. It's still rampant with violence, but who cares, since it's the Backstreets, right. ]
I'm a little surprised how many of us are capable of defending ourselves. There's even a priest...
