[ it's fine. he'll move away in a bit but for now he's content here. ]
...thanks. [ he can't really say "it's okay" because it's been a constant source of misery for the last six years, but you know. ] I...now that everything happened with Amame I have to try and figure out a better way to live, I think. Or at least let other people help if that's what they really want. But it's hard when people look at you and already have a perspective of who they think you are.
[ a common problem for people in general, maybe. also haki i still want a yuri mem if you're down. ]
[ Yuri feels the same, after all. She wishes she could make it better for Shoma, but she can't. Part of the human experience is to mature as time passes. Things done to disrupt that process... Yuri doesn't want to imagine how it would be for Shoma in the future.
But then the void sucks them in again, making the two peek into Yuri's memory.
Lobotomy Corporation, specifically Branch D-02, is currently undergoing lockdown. The halls are cold. The underground building is set for mass burial along with the employees and Abnormalities alike. It's to prevent Abnormalities from reaching the surface, they said.
In the midst of the sirens, the announcements blare throughout the underground building.
INITIATING SITE BURIAL.
People are screaming. They're frantic. Everything is dyed in a red light. With two eyes, you can see so much more.
Shoma has three minutes. He will know that if he wants to escape, he will need to allocate all three minutes towards that or else he's toast. The elevators are not working. He is right next to the stairs and he would have to sprint up the stairs to escape the underground facility. The heavy metal doors will close in to trap him forever if he's too slow.
ENERGY TRANSFER IS 85% COMPLETE.
But in the distance, in the other end of the far hall, having tripped and with her hand reaching out to Shoma, he will hear:
"Don't leave me behind! Shoma!"
She is your friend. She is your coworker. She is...
[ oh this is already hateful thank you. he doesn't even really have time to register anything before he's thrown into yuri's memory, stopped in the hallway and trying to register what, exactly, the priorities are. people are screaming, sirens are blaring, and he doesn't need to fully understand the circumstances to know they're bad.
he could run. he's fast enough, spry and young and full of energy that he thinks he could make it to the stairs. but...he knows better. he knows if he left someone behind, someone specifically calling for his help, he'd let the guilt eat at him for days. or weeks. months. years. eternity. all of that.
so he turns, dashing down to the end of the hall as quick as he can. ]
Come on! [ can she stand on her own before he gets there? he hopes so. maybe if he can just reach her they can book it back for the stairs, though he's still searching for alternate routes as he runs. ]
[ terrible, actually. as much as shoma's ambivalent to people he's not especially close to...he's not cruel enough to just say "oh well."
the stairs are far away now, but they still have a few minutes, right? ]
What about if I support you? We can still make it to the stairs if we're going together. [ does it look at all like he can try to help her stand or even half-carry her? ]
[ Half-carry is Shoma's best bet. Once he does that, the classmate appreciates Shoma's support. Time to get going! Because there is a very loud thumping behind him and it gets ever closer... Does Shoma want to stick around to see what it is? Thankfully, it's not blocking the direction of the stairwell. ]
[ fuck no he's not sticking around, he's gonna hold onto this classmate and try to book it. LET'S GO.
how far can they get though...? does the thumping continue to follow even as they run? he will at least glance over his shoulder to see what it might be. ]
[ Shoma will make it right to the staircase before he sees a quadrupedal, slight humanoid-build dog-like existence. It's very large with a muscular torso and a blue circular tattoo on its shoulder. It has limbs poking out of its mouth.
Anyway, it's time to go up! The staircase is on the verge of collapse, so Shoma should be careful to dodge falling debris. Roll a d20. 10 or higher means Shoma and classmate don't get pancaked. ]
[ DOG? he's really kind of alarmed by this, but he vaguely wonders if this is an ego.
he sees the limbs and decides he doesn't want to find out. he turns, carefully but quickly navigating the stairs. it's hard while supporting another person (given he's not that tall), but what does a roll of 17 get him? ]
A roll of 17 gives Shoma sheer luck of dodging that giant debris from falling on him and his classmate. Wonderful! He can proceed up the stairwell. When Shoma opens the door to the top most floor, he'll see that on the other end of the floor, huge metal doors close in over the only exit in the building as it clicks and hisses. It's forever locked now.
There are also corpses all over the floor, and a monster roaming around, devouring said corpses. For some reason, Shoma will know that this is categorized of the highest risk level there is out of five.
not that that's an option he wants, so he's busy looking. going through district ten has at least given him some idea of what he should try to do, so even while supporting his classmate he's busy scoping the area. the doors are locked.
this a lot of corpses...do any of them have any sort of weapon on them that he can grab? he's trying to sneak ahead and go unnoticed by this monster, actually, while checking things out. ]
[ As soon as Shoma thinks if there's a weapon he can use, he's in luck! He has a red sword, just like pictured in the icon. Lightweight. Easy to use. Looting the corpses will give Shoma... a very small handgun, equipped with a single bullet. How does he know this? It's a feeling he'll get. In fact, all the corpses here have that exact gun, with only one bullet in it.
[ the gun's slipped in his pocket within easy reach, but he holds onto the sword in the hand that isn't holding onto the other person. good to know he can always grab another gun if he needs it.
we are going to continue sneaking around, trying to get closer to the door just to see if, in fact, the whole thing is locked tight. stay focused else, lil monster... ]
[ i really lost this notif... anyway i'm here to give shoma trauma, so.
His classmate is very quiet. After all, their survival is extremely important and she doesn't want to fuck this up. When they reach the doors, they're very locked.
There isn't much to hide behind, so the monster eventually notices Shoma and his classmate by the door and starts skittering towards them. Yes, skittering while oozing corpse juice. ]
great! love trauma. not loving the state of these doors, and especially not loving that they've been spotted. oh boy. don't skitter aaAAHHHHH he's taking the weight of his classmate as best as he can, adjusting them so that he can start to book it in the opposite direction to try and find another exit? or, at least, get the monster to slam into the doors and try to rattle them enough to break.
it's not logical, but it's a thought. how well can we dodge? is there a way back somewhere else? ]
[ They could always go back down the crumbling stairwell. The building was extremely careful about any of these monsters escaping to the surface, so unfortunately, there's only one exit.
The monster gets closer and closer and slams into the doors, but the doors don't budge. Not even a scuff or a dent is made despite how the sound of thr impact should have made something.
Now it fully turns to Shoma and his classmate and proceeds to try and jump him. ]
[ no!! he's turning to try and shield his classmate but he has a sword which he brings up to try and slash at this monster. granted i rolled a 4 trying to do this so this is likely ineffective, but he has to try. he has to try and get this monster to back off and find a way out. ]
[ When the monster gets close and personal, it's... big. It towers over Shoma with the top of its jumbled body touching the ceiling if it stands on its legs. The sword pierces through, but it's like trying to stab some rotten, gooey waste. The same goes for the gun.
It looms over them both and it slowly opens its massive jaws and takes a bite out of a quarter of Shoma's head including his right eye. Crunch.
And Shoma will find himself not in that situation anymore. Welcome back to the ship. ]
[ oh good, there really was no stopping this, huh. he fights, trying to get the creature to back off but when it bites--
--even when he's out of the memory, there's a startled yell. a hand comes up feeling over his face for a moment as if to make sure his eye's still there. ]
[ there's a faint wince. eye injuries are no joke. ]
That must've been really hard. [ it's what he settles on first, because she obviously didn't escape unscathed. but, even moreso: ] ...I wouldn't want to wish that kind of choice on anybody.

"I sprained my ankle... I can't run."
With Shoma's quick scanning, he'll see no other nearby exits. The stairwell was the closest one. ]
