I'm glad you like him. Some people think his company is a chore, but I couldn't disagree more. [a beat.] Not that I'll tell him so. The man needs a hit to the ego every so often.

[a laugh.]

Yes. But maybe not to you. That's a good thing.

[ Yuri smiles. It's always a good feeling to have someone be nice to her, so she doesn't mind. ]

You two seem close.

[naeddre]

[she tucks her hair behind her ear.]

... We are. I consider him family.

[ There's a bit of warmth from Yuri, but small tinge of jealousy. ]

I'm happy for you, Throne. To consider someone like family... I'm glad he's the one who came here with you so that you wouldn't be alone.

[ Yuri nods. ]

Rodion and Gregor. I'm... glad that if there were any two people, I could pick, it would be them. We don't work for the same company, but... they're good people.

They seem that way. [a little smile.] And they seem protective of you.

Your world seems a little strange to me, but you all navigate it very well.

[ She smiles a little. ]

[ She was looking down at the board, genuinely confused about what Throne is asking. ]

I respect the desire to cheat. [genuinely, actually.]

I'm curious. But I won't ask if you're not interested in telling me. I know how to keep my nose out of other people's business.

[ Yuri shakes her head. ]

It's alright. I think it's a timeline issue. I didn't die yet, but in Gregor and presumably Rodya's, I did. The last thing I remembered was a monster attacking me and that could have been how I met my end in their perspectives.

[naeddre]

[a little nod as she takes that in.]

... Interesting. I had thought it was just me and Temenos. [head tilt.] Is there a way to prevent that?

[applebough]

If I don't go back. I never planned on returning, so it works out well for me.

[ Like, yeah, shes talking about her possible death, but she seems pretty satisfied with it. ]

I've had many opportunities for various things ever since I woke up here.

[naeddre]

Fair enough. Would you go back with Gregor and Rodya? Or do you mean something else as far as opportunities?

[ She shakes her head no. ]

We're from different companies and it's not guaranteed that I would be able to work with them. Moreover, my status as an outcast can't be erased, so the stigma will always follow me there. Rodya was the one who offered me to join their group. Even if it would be denied by the higher-ups, I really appreciated the sentiment back then.

[naeddre]

[she figures if yuri wants her to stop asking questions she'll tell her, so throné just settles in.]

I was associated with a corporation that went under, since that was where I worked before. There's a very heavy stigma about that sort of thing in The City.

Your City sounds like it's built around these corporations, from what I've heard.

What do you do, then, if you're unlikely to be picked up by the others?

The most I could do was obtain a license for becoming a Fixer and hoping to join an Office. They're for-hire workers... some compare them to mercenaries. I'm just a contract worker, so I didn't really have stable income, if at all.
