I was curious about something... did you ever have to manage someone or something that you couldn't communicate with?

Yes and no. I've managed people who have communication styles different than what I'm used to. Psychic beings, individuals who can't speak, dogs. But I think part of managing someone is to find a way to communicate with them effectively.

That's true. I was wondering how others would go about doing it. For similar work, I had to observe the subject to figure out how to handle them effectively. It made me think that I was taking the ability to talk for granted back then.

And how did you wind up handling them?

We mostly had employees take turn with interacting with them, and eventually learn what made them tick. It was a lot of trial and error.

That's pretty much how I would approach it, too. You can't really know how to handle someone unless you take the time to learn.
