Ah, well... admittedly, talking about it would help me a lot in distinguishing what's real and what isn't. So if you have time now, I can tell you. We can share each other's. I briefly saw yours, but I couldn't focus at the time.
[ A nice, quiet place is great. Yuri likes it. Once they're settled, Yuri tries to string her thoughts together. ]
The memory that everyone saw... was if my workplace didn't go under. I would still be working there with my coworkers and I wouldn't have had to go through everything that came after: the loss of my eye, being an outcast of the entire habitable area of The City, and... it was quite a lot of survivor's guilt too.
My old workplace decided to shut down, so all the Abnormalities—the contained creatures and objects, had to be eternally locked underground so that none of them could escape to the surface. Every employee was caught up in it too, but I wanted to live. I wanted to live so badly... the Abnormalities started breaking out of their containment and caused chaos during the whole process. Alex... she... called out to me from a distance, begging me not to go, not to leave her behind. I left her and everyone else to save my own skin before the doors closed in on me.
The thing she was wearing... the helmet...
[ Yuri pauses to take a sip of her drink. She needs a moment. ]
Why would you become an outcast, though? [Who wouldn't want to rescue the lone survivor? Her gaze flicks to the eyepatch. She wants to know about that too, but there's a lot here, and all of it dreadful enough to chill the blood in her veins. Later, once the basics have been established.
She waits for her to finish sipping, her own cup paused a half inch away from her lips.]
So they just gave up on the employees? They couldn't pull you all out before shutting it down? [Then, hesitantly.] What about the helmet?
Because... L Corp, the place I was working for, went under. They have no respect for the fallen corporations and everyone who was associated with them.
They couldn't risk any of the monsters from escaping, because people were... vulnerable to possession from some of them as well. That's why they decided that everyone had to be buried with the building to seal off the Abnormalities permanently.
[ ... ]
Alex was left behind with other coworkers. One of the Abnormalities was loose in the halls and it demanded sacrifices for it to be appeased, so they ended up drawing lots to see who would be sacrificed. You know... people wouldn't willingly want to be sacrificed. So they most likely ended up attacking each other and the sole survivor from that was Alex. And believing that if she wore that helmet, the associated Abnormality wouldn't want her to be sacrificed...

[She nods at the rest as well, winding her arm through Yuri's elbow. Let them find a nice quiet spot for a chat, or a cuppa tea.]
I think I got some of yours as well? But it was a bit of a sticky situation all around. Let's just start from square one.
