[ It's just another day in this hellscape, isn't it? But, before they get to doing whatever they need to do on the planet (because who knows how that is going to go), Blade is found at his usual place.
In the simulation room; all things considered? Not a terrible place to be, given the unfortunate sights settling over the ship. He's ensured the place seems to be somewhere in particular rather than not. So, good-bye to the fleshy horrors for however that lasts. Once Yuri enters, Blade turns to face her. ]
[ That will definitely happen when Blade asks if she wants a good warm up (no)(unless?) ]
I don't recall the distance.
[ Consider this a verbal shrug. Fortunately, this is the first time it's come up with her. ]
I suppose I never bothered to check, even long after I had arrived on the Xianzhou Alliance. I must have been rather preoccupied in my work, and ensuring my success in such endeavors. Though, in retrospect, even if I did attempt to have find out, I would have forgotten by now.
[ Blade passes her a little smirk at that, and turning away from her, he says, his tone edging towards far too amused as he says: ]
Consider it potentially practice for the future as well...
[ One (thunder casting mook) pops up, alongside a random number of gremlins (which will auto-revive to 50% HP when killed, yay!)
Blade already starts at the floating enemy, sword cleaving mercilessly into it, and halving its HP in a basic attack. The multitude of soldiers use basic attacks and will try to slice at both of them in the midst of this. Moving and attacking targets!! ]
[ People as target practice? Yuri watches Blade, wondering if being unnerfed makes him look more impressive in fighting now. If Yuri was to be a character in HSR, she would just be a npc enemy... she has no particular combat skills to speak home about. She could bring the EGO weapon, but that option has never been on the table.
...
Yuri targets the one heading to them to strike them right at the neck. She's not a fan of drawn out fights. Just go for the kill. ]
[ She could totally have gained some neat skills depending on the Path she ends up following, combat-wise (even if she got assigned on the CR Chart Preservation, she would likely be something less defensive-oriented!!)
That said, yes, people as target practice. Isn't it wonderful? But, they're monsters; fakes. Mara-struck creatures. Who would care about the little details? The lighting-casting enemy is about to inflict Thunderwoe on Yuri, but a sword through its neck impedes that.
They at least know where to strike, right? Yuri's strike does damage to one of the regular mooks; heavy enough to be considered a critical, stunning it. There's another coming at her from her right sight, though.
And another slashes at Blade, who decides to just tank the hit directed at his side. ]
[ Blade just tanking hits like damn. Imagine being on the Hunt path with mediocre attack stat. Yuri chains her movement to strike at the one coming from her right, immediately going for the head. ]
[ Imagine...that would be terrible. But, anyway, Blade turns his attention towards the one who slashed at him.
The blade cuts through the enemy like butter. Except, this one revives right away, and simply just slashes at him again. He doesn't even so much as grunt. The one she attacks has its HP halved, and it is striking at her again. ]
Hardly.
Though, I'm not exactly about to bring in Emanators for us to square off against.
[ Those are enemies that would be difficult even for him to fight, considering he would toggle it for Abundance-related opponents. ]
[ Huh. These revive. That helps Yuri in making herself think that these are more aligned with monsters than people, so she puts strength behind her attack to swiftly behead the enemy that she's currently dealing with. Stop striking at her!! You're just gonna die!! ]
[ These bastards are persistent. Imbued with the power of a twisted form of the Abundance, even in a false image, they dare cling boldly to life. But, their fate is to just as easily have it snuffed out once more all the same. ]
Much moreso. Think of it as a being that has been gifted incredible power by a god-like figure.
[ So. Yeah!
Anyway, as he says that, since it is Yuri's first time killing one of the regular mooks she too gets to witness it reviving to about 50% of its HP. Like annoying regenerating gnats!! Blade puts an end to the one who he just dealt with that came back alive, though. ]
These enemies are Mara-struck opponents. They are what becomes of long-lived species who succumb to an infliction that rots the mind and twists the soul.
[ Yeah. In fact, this reminds me effects are still happening, and as they're fighting these mooks, there is suddenly a random, succinct thought:
"Abominations." ]
Over time. As one becomes older, the burden of memories becomes a shackle, and then a trigger into a transformation.
[ The 'mara-struck process' can, in fact, be considered a very cursed breakdown. Literally. ]
Though, there are some who can become artificially mara-struck, even if they are short-lived species, or if they are exposed to tainted material...unintentionally or on purpose.
[ Yeah, she's with him on calling these abominations. They have similar things in her world too, after all. If anything, it would makes her cut them down even more. ]
... I suppose the wisdom of long-living species or whatever they had was something that the short-lived species wanted?
...For some short-lived species, yes. But there were some long-lived species who thought they were doing a favor in forcing others to experience what they did.
Long-lived individuals who lived many years, but did not wish to die. Individuals of a certain cult, who preached such a state as something great, and profound. Rantings of delusional beings.
[ Something like dark amusement then can be felt, but a definite feeling of hatred towards these beings. However...
The earlier weeks... Were you really that bad on the first week? I can understand not knowing everything and being sour that you were suddenly kidnapped here, but...
week 7, monday
In the simulation room; all things considered? Not a terrible place to be, given the unfortunate sights settling over the ship. He's ensured the place seems to be somewhere in particular rather than not. So, good-bye to the fleshy horrors for however that lasts. Once Yuri enters, Blade turns to face her. ]
Did you need to use the room?
no subject
[ Yuri looks around. It's a full blown out city and she looks fascinated by the architecture. ]
... Is this perhaps the place you came from?
no subject
[ A large section of it. Though, he didn't bother to put people (or enemies to fight) in...yet. ]
I lived here for most of my mortal life, following my arrival; my homeworld was elsewhere.
no subject
Was it far from this place?
[ feel free to have blade shrug if it was never revealed anywhere bc I sure don't know ]
no subject
I don't recall the distance.

I see... were you planning on taking in the sights here? Or...?

In fact, funny that she asks that question, because... ]
Momentarily.
But, not for long. I was about to engage in some target practice. You are welcome to join...if you believe you're up to the challenge.

[ But she accepts and forms her usual red sword in her hand. ]

I'm assuming those will be more difficult...
[ Hm. ]
What are these anyway?

Much moreso. Think of it as a being that has been gifted incredible power by a god-like figure.

[ That's how it usually goes, she thinks. ]

...there's also him... ]
no subject
... That sounds rather egotistical. People can go plenty insane without their interference.
[ lmao ]
Blade, your hatred is leaking very blatantly.
no subject
Blade stares for a moment, wondering what she could possibly mean as they've mowed down a good number of these gnats...
Then, he realizes, with a — well, it's not a frown. But, a thoughtful expression. Of some kind. ]
That they can. Though the those so-called 'Disciples' could care less.
[ ... ]
I suppose it is like how it was in the earlier weeks, then.
no subject
[ Blade, please. ]
no subject
I was always this 'bad', as you say. None of you were simply able to perceive it or were fortunate not to catch wind of such things.
Not a single one.
[ Only two more now as he slashes down the enemies mercilessly. They're not so dissimilar from one another. Not at all. ]
no subject
... Did you want someone to notice?
no subject
Earlier on, I did.
[ For the usual standard Blade-type reason, so you know. He takes care of the other one just the same. ]
Now, I believe it's perhaps better that they didn't.
